Moving Social Networks Forward

A social network is simple. It's a summation of every connection we've ever made.

And everybody's afraid. 'These networks are suffocating our real interactions', I hear.

But I think there are a few of us that see the positive spin. The ability to recognize and cherish our friends' contributions. The ability for us to finally have trackable, accountable news sources. The ability for each of us to have our own channel into the world.

So while there may be a lot of pitfalls in this digitally connected human network, I hope that you won't forget that it's also a chance to make yourself heard. It makes it possible for you to stand up for what you believe in and connect with others that agree.

Not only a chance to make yourself heard. It opens a door of expanding communication. Language is a limiting factor. If we can get programming to work through an interface which is as intuitive and expressive as a musical instrument - people can express themselves and communicate their ideas at a level beyond words. Instead of describing what happened to me last night, I can recreate a simulation of it for you to experience right now. If it gets boring, I can add a pink elephant!

That's a neat idea. There are a lot of initiatives for point and click programming. It is planned for children as young as 5. We'll be a programming nation soon enough.
